Greetings!
Today I’m sharing with you all some pictures from the Sauvie Island – Portland, OR.
It’s a beautiful island that is predominantly farmland and wildlife refuge. With pure air and green landscapes, the farms offer a daily u-pick-em’s of organic sweet, fresh fruit and a variety of vegetables, along with all-u-can-cut flowers. It’s a popular place for picking pumpkins, watch geese, kayaking and hiking.
One thing that got my attention is that they have the Sauvie Island Center where children are been educating about organic food, farming and importance of cultivating the land.
Something to remember: organic fruits and vegetables are not always going to be all Hollywood pretty, in fact they often have blemishes and other imperfections, however, they are as Mother Earth made them, and provide you with the nutrients your body needs. The pretty stuff you often see in the stores may be nice to look at on the surface, but are the product of synthetic practices from insecticides sprayed the plant itself or on its soil which is then absorbed into the plant to genetic manipulation. With the latter you don’t really know what you’re getting, nutrients and/or carcinogens and in what measures and to what health costs to you? Nature has had millions of years to make its products perfect… ♥

-Photos by me: By the way the boys picture was taken with permission from the mother.
